12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Joseph is a hardworking, coachable OF who is a great team player. He is willing to make adjustments to be the best player he can be and worked hard during his time in Pirate City. In the OF, he shows active prep and is ready to move right or left. He takes good angles in tracking down fly-balls - working into position behind the ball. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Range will improve as he increases his foot speed. At the plate, he displays an athletic setup with centered balance. Hands work inside the ball as he utilizes all fields through a line drive approach. Power grade will continue to increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively and adds overall body strength. Joseph has tools with upside as he continues to develop.

09/19/2015 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Joseph starts in a balanced and square position and utilizes a soft stride and activates the hands with his load. Joseph shows a bat path the leads directly to the baseball and allows him to extend through contact. Poma should work on avoiding a collapse of the lower half throughout his swing which will allow for more consistency and more usage of the lower half for power. Allowing the ball to travel deeper into the proper hitting zone will be beneficial for Joseph and allow him to use the whole field to his advantage as a hitter.

08/03/2015 - College PREP - Wilmington, DE Joseph is a LHH OF who has an athletic build. In the OF, he takes a quick first step with solid routes/angles to track down fly-balls in the gaps. He secures the ball with 2-hands, gathers smoothly and plays through the ball toward his target. As a hitter - this lefty shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. Swing is level to and through the zone as he connects and hits line-drives consistently. Swinging against a firm front side while engaging his lower 1/2 will result in increased pop off of the barrel. A 2017 grad - Poma still has time to develop his tools on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
