07/31/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Joseph is a 2-way player at RHP/2B that will graduate in 2021. Joseph shows great sidearm action on the mound with a 3-pitch mix with a FB, SL, and KN. The FB has great AS run, the SL has 10-4 sweeping action, and the KN tumbles. He gathers over the rubber well as he strides down the mound showing a clean arm action. His stride is smooth as he gets great extension finishing rotation to the target. At 2B, Joseph shows athletic movements and quick, active feet. He takes a +1st step as he works to the ball and fields out in front with 2-hands. His exchanges are clean letting the ball fly with accuracy and carry. At the plate he has high and loose hands with a simple load. Joseph gets the barrel on plane well as he makes consistent contact showing pop to the pull side. Joseph shows good upside with several years to develop.

01/06/2019 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Joseph is a RHP/2B prospect who will graduate in 2021. On the mound, Joseph gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Joseph shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph. Breaking ball sits from 67-69mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 72-74mph with tailing action. Finishing with his chest over his front knee can help Joseph improve as a pitcher. In the field, Joseph shows fluid footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, Joseph sets up in a tall stance and works to barrel up the baseball. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Joseph improve as a hitter. Overall, Joseph is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
