06/19/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Katy (Houston), TX Joseph is a hardworking outfield prospect who has an athletic build and graduates in 2018. As a right-handed hitter, Joseph has an athletic stance with a short stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. He has an on-plane swing path and gets good rotation. Joseph shows solid contact to the pull side. In the outfield, Joseph plays with quick footwork and takes the correct angles to cover good ground in each direction. He stays behind the baseball and presents his glove as he fields the ball athletically. Joseph does a nice job playing through the baseball with momentum towards his target. He has a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Overall, Joseph has a well-rounded skill set and the potential to get even better with development.

08/04/2016 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown Joseph showed as a very coachable and hardworking player. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works proper angles in tracking down balls. Glove action is soft / sure as he presents hands well out front. He works to get behind balls and plays through well. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more.

05/01/2016 - National Tryout Plus - College Station, TX Joseph is an athlete with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a superior runner at 6.87. In the OF, he utilizes his quick feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls well. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Reads off the bat are a plus and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively.

07/20/2014 - California Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Joseph is a 2018 graduate who plays 3B. As a third baseman Joseph tries to play through, was accurate to target and showed pretty good footwork. He can improve by putting himself in a more athletic pre-pitch position, getting hands out front more and long tossing for arm strength. At the plate Joseph displayed a line drive approach and good/consistent contact but needs to let the ball travel into the proper hitting zone, keep balance centered and level swing path.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
