08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Joseph is an OF/1B that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best defensively in the OF for the next level. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.29 60 time. Feet are active as he takes proper first steps as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground in the OF through proper routes / angles. He works to get behind balls well and plays through with momentum to his target. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a solid receiver, displaying clean hands. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to play through balls more and present hands more out front. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power numbers improving as he learns to stay back and use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays hard and is very coachable. With 2 years to further develop, Joseph has abilities with time and room to improve.
