01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Joseph is a talented RHP that graduates in 2021. On the mound, Joseph competes with a 2-pitch FB/SL combo. The FB shows some heavy life at 74-77 mph as he works it down in the zone. The SL is 10-4 with sweeping break. His mechanics are solid and has a competitive mound presence. He gathers over the rubber well and separates on time showing a loose and clean arm action. He keeps a square stride as he strides to the plate landing under control and rotates well finishing the pitch. Hitting, Joseph shows some pop with an 85mph exit velo. He starts in a square stance with fluid timing as he keeps his weight centered. He uses his lower half well creating fast bat speed making square contact and works the gaps in his approach. Joseph shows that he can be productive on the mound and on offense.

09/27/2017 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Joseph continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he only showed from the right side. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target and gets rid of the baseball quickly. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 67-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Joseph is a RHP/OF who continues to improve his game. At the plate, he shows athletic actions as he starts from an open stance with plus bat speed and he uses his lower half efficiently. He has a smooth rhythm which helps him to be level and short to the baseball. He was able to make hard consistent contact to all fields. In the OF, Joseph gets behind the baseball, and uses a clean transfer to make accurate throws to bases. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot and showed a fastball, curveball and changeup. He showed consistent mechanics and good feel for his fastball and changeup. Getting tighter spin on his curveball, will help Joseph get more downward tilt. Joseph is a versatile two-way player with solid potential.

05/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Keizer (Salem), OR Joseph is an athletic OF/RHP. Defensively in the OF, he takes efficient routes as he tracks down fly balls. He gets into a square fielding position on GB's and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the hill, this RHP commands a 3-pitch mix with free arm action. He drives his lower 1/2 off the rubber as he works in line and finishes strongly towards home plate. With the stick, Joseph is a line drive type hitter. He whips his barrel fast through the zone and consistently sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Develop soft hands
3. Loose arm action
Pitching
1. Keep eyes on target
2. Get to a balance point
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop rhythm/timing
2. More lower 1/2 drive
3. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
