10/07/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Trenton, NJ Joseph continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to attack more and play through with his body. Glove action is smooth and he presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving and he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, power potential has improved through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and aggressive as he attacks balls in the zone. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered.

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Joseph is a very coachable player that looks to get better every day and has a willingness to improve. He shows his love for the game every time he steps onto the field. Defensively in the MIF, he shows quick/active footwork and works well around the GB from right to left. He maintains smooth actions and has a clean exchange to throw. Continuing to build his arm strength (long toss) will aid in his development defensively. As a hitter - Joseph shows a square/balanced setup with rhythm to load. He tracks pitches out of the pitcher's hand and into the zone, squaring the ball up (4 singles at the event). Whipping the barrel with increased bat speed will result in more power. A 2019 grad - Joseph has a ton of upside as he continues to develop and build overall strength.

02/14/2016 - College PREP - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Joseph is a hard worker who has made great strides in his game. With the bat, this righty shows a square setup and solid base and rhythm to load. He takes an aggressive hack, squaring the ball up and driving it to the middle of the field. At SS, Joseph has active footwork and moves well around the GB from right to left. He works through the ball fluidly and has a clean exchange to throw. Continuing to develop his arm-strength (long toss) which will also come as he physically matures, will help take his skills on the left side of the INF to the next level. Joseph has upside with still a ton of time to develop.

07/31/2014 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown Joseph continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities as he's a young talented middle infielder who shows great upside with the glove. At SS, he shows good mechanics, and the ability to make the routine play. He shows soft/sure hands, and fields out front, he also plays down hill working through the baseball well. At the plate, Joseph has great rhythm, and tracks the baseball through the zone well. He has a square active launch, with a very balanced swing. Joseph shows great potential as a baseball player, and will only continue to improve as he grows and gets stronger.

11/14/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Joseph is a young two-way player, a shortstop and RHP. In the infield, Joseph has good defensive awareness and communicates well. His good baseball actions are complimented by his ability to field the ball out in front with soft, subtle hands and work through the ball fluidly. He continues to improve his foot speed, range and arm strength. On the mound, Joseph is very controlled, has good mechanics, and finishes well towards the plate. He is very well composed and leads well with his gloveside. Joseph keeps improving his front side closed and his arm strength. At the plate, Joseph is very athletic, has a controlled load and sprays the ball across the whole field. Joseph continues to improve his rhythm and timing as well as his bat speed. Joseph has potential and needs to strive to be more vocal and play a little more aggressively.

09/21/2013 - Infield Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Joseph is a hard working middle infielder that likes to get dirty. He shows the ability to cover ground in the infield, but can cover more than expected with his hustle. Joseph has very high potential as a ball player, especially in the infield, and he will begin to show his potential with size and strength as he gets older. He displays very good hands, not only on ground balls, but also around the bag. Joseph is a player, and will continue to be a player as he works hard and keeps hustling when on the diamond.

08/25/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Joseph is a young, 2-way player as a SS/RHP. Offensively is where he excels through a solid setup and line-drive approach. He uses his lower 1/2 well and drives the ball to all fields. He gets good extension through contact and sprays the ball to all fields. Defensively at SS, Joseph is aggressive and attacks the ground ball, helping to avoid the in-between hop. He presents his glove, fields it out in front, and makes the plays. On the bump, this RHP throws 2-pitches showing a good feel for both. He keeps his shoulders level and drive off the mound, in-line toward the plate. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

1. Rhythm
2. Bat-speed
Defense
1. Arm strength
2. Play through ball
Pitching
1. Arm-action
2. Finish

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
