10/09/2013 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Cherry continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities, especially in the OF where he projects best for the next level. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.8 runner. Defensive abilities in the OF have improved, now showing as outstanding as he utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat, takes proper first steps, and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Behind the plate, pop times where in the 2.20 range as he works in line through a clean transfer exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, Josh shows an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he learns to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude, works hard, and has the tools to play the game.
