05/12/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Lakewood (Denver), CO Josh is an OF prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Josh makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Josh improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a square stride. He drives through well with his lower half and sprays the ball to all fields. Josh can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With three more years to develop, Josh has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Josh is a lean, athletic OF/2B prospect who has lots of raw talent on the field. He shows advanced feel to hit with a connected load and stride and feel for the barrel at contact. He has smooth rhythm in the box with a stacked load and square stride to launch. He keeps his head still throughout his swing and works on a level path to the ball to make consistent contact. In the field, he works aggressively to the ball with feel for the position and range to track the ball down. He shows quick feet on exchanges to throw and his hands work cleanly to get rid of the ball to throw to his target. A long toss program will increase arm strength to throw out base runners. Josh is a prospect we look forward to continue watching.

07/10/2017 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Josh is a lean OF who will graduate in 2022. In the OF, he utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls playing through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through the lower half. Mental makeup is outstanding as he has a positive attitude, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 5 years to further develop, Josh has potential with time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
