01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Josh is a strong, well-built centerfield prospect who has a talented skill set. As a right-handed hitter, Josh has a relaxed, closed setup and shows good athleticism. He has an activated load with fluid, controlled rhythm and a soft stride. Josh shows explosive bat speed with good hip and hand coordination. He engages his lower half and produces hard contact. In the field, Josh moves with active footwork and agile actions. He fields the ball in a square position with his hands out in front. Josh has a clean exchange and throws from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate and he is developing arm strength. Overall, Josh can make an impact on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond.

07/18/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Josh continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has the makings of a special type player at the next level. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner as indicated by his 60 time at 6.99. In the OF, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Range is a plus as reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with on line zip (90 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (93 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable, and plays the game hard. With 2 years to further develop, Josh has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Mill Valley (San Francisco), CA Josh is a tall, well-built outfield prospect who has a talented skill set. Offensively, Josh has an athletic setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He has smooth rhythm with a short stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Josh has fast bat speed with a direct swing path producing hard contact. He is a line drive type hitter who has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Josh also shows power and can drive the ball to each gap. In the outfield, Josh plays with effective footwork and the proper angles to cover good ground. He fields the ball in a square position with a firm glove. Josh throws with a loose arm action from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws have good strength and he is working develop more consistency. Overall, Josh has an above average talent and potential to impact the game on both sides of the ball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
