11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Josh continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 3.14 range. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone but needs to present a lower target. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner and improve his lateral movements. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/08/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Josh is a big, strong C who will graduate in 2022. Behind the plate, he shows a solid setup and tries to catch around the ball. He works hard to center pitches in the dirt and gains ground with his throws. With the stick, Josh gets back into a balanced load. He whips his barrel on a direct path fast through the zone and consistently drives pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
