11/23/2008 - College PREP - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Josh is an athletic young player. Behind the plate, Josh has a quick transfer and an accurate arm with arm strength. He gets the ball down to second efficiently. He has soft hands when receiving and he gets down nicely when blocking balls in the dirt. His swing is level with pull side pop and barrel accuracy. Josh can work on his balance at the plate which will help create a more consistent approach. As he gets a little stronger and fills out, Josh should increase his tool grades.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
