07/31/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Josh continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, he utilizes his feet well in working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw is lowest time to date at 2.18 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup but needs to let ball travel more and soft glove to improve receiving grade. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player, coachable, and plays the game hard.

04/14/2019 - College PREP - Louisville, KY Josh is a lean C prospect who will graduate in 2022. Behind the plate, Josh shows efficient footwork and covers up well when blocking. He receives with soft hands but will benefit by squaring stance up. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. Pop times showed in the 2.25 range. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Connor improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a squared stance and gets into his load well. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid line drives into the gaps. Overall, Josh is a solid prospect who has time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
