09/09/2018 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Josh is an athletic OF/2B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Josh shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He fields in a low position and makes a clean exchange to throw. He gains momentum well on his throws and keeps them consistently on-line to his target. Josh can improve as an OF by fielding with his hands lower. As a 2B, Josh shows active footwork and flashes good range to his backhand side. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange makes accurate, online throws to his target. Josh can improve as a 3B by playing through the ball more. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact and line drives. Overall, Josh is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

04/10/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Josh is a young 2-way player who continues to work hard and progress. In the OF, he takes a quick first step with good routes to track down fly-balls hit to his right and left. He maintains good rhythm, secures the ball with 2-hands and works through it well. At 2B - Josh works fluidly around the GB from right to left. He moves lightly on the balls of his feet and can make the plays to his backhand and forehand. Release his quick as he gets the ball to 1B accurately. As a hitter, this righty has a balanced setup with a solid base. He has loose hands and whips the barrel through the zone, squaring the ball up and hitting line-drives. Leveling out his swing along with creating more extension through contact will help to improve skills at the plate. Josh (2020 grad) has skills with still a ton of time to develop and physically mature (get stronger).

07/14/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Josh showed in the OF at the event and improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls, reads ball well off the bat as he covers a lot of ground. Hands are soft / clean and he works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through an aggressive approach. At the event, he was 2 for 9. Once on base, he is an aggressive base runner as he will take the extra base. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and works hard to be the best player he can be as he is very coachable.

04/12/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Josh is a young (2020 grad) 2-way player as a 2B/OF. With the bat, this RH swinger shows a closed stance with a good base. He has simple actions, swings on a level path and utilizes his lower 1/2 well. He connects and drives the ball up the middle of the field. At 2B, he is shows active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He works from the ground-up, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. In the OF, Josh takes a quick first step and tracks down fly-balls to his right and left. He secures the fly-ball at it's highest point, gathers well and works in-line toward his target. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Rhythm/Timing
2. Stride square
Infield
1. Glove presentation
2. Pre-pitch footwork
Outfield
1. Routes/Angles
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Play through ball

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
