Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Josh is an athletic 1B/LHP who leaves it all on the field. At 1B, he showed smooth, efficient footwork around the bag getting to throws up and down the line. He does well working behind the ball and has a + 1st step. He works into a square fielding position behind the GB and tracks the ball into a soft mitt. At the plate, he starts in an open setup with high hands and has a great eye for the zone. He has an active load and controlled rhythm with a smooth swing path. He barrels the ball up consistently and hits hard line-drives. On the mound, this lefty showed a three-pitch mix with good poise. He works his FB in and out as it has slight tailing action - 75-76 mph. CB shows to be his best pitch with 1/7 shape and sharp/late break. CH has sink with deceptive FB arm speed and will get GB outs. He throws a lot of strikes working the ball to the corners of the plate. Wordin is a solid athlete who has the tools to make things happen in a variety of ways.

07/22/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Josh is an athletic 1B who is a prospect on the diamond. Defensively at 1B, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. Footwork around the bag is solid and he is a quality receiver. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. With 2 years to further develop, Josh has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
