Official Scouting Report

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Joshua continues to shine on the diamond. With the bat, this righty steps into the box looking to swing it. Swing is quick/compact through a level path as he centers the ball consistently with pop. He hits the ball where it's pitched, spraying it to all parts of the field. At SS, he has quick/athletic actions and works into a low fielding position. Hands are presented out front as he tracks the GB in and gathers smoothly. A talented athlete - Argarin has the tools that will play at the next level.

03/13/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Joshua continues to show a promising future on the diamond. In the MIF, he displays range as he utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movements. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Glove action is soft / sure as he presents well out front. At the plate, hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a short / compact swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and displaying gap to gap pop.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament This athletic MIF continues to shine. At the plate - he displays an athletic setup with relaxed/simple actions. Swing is quick through a level path as he connects and creates hard contact with pop, driving the ball to all parts of the field. At SS, Joshua has naturally smooth actions. He works fluidly from right to left around the GB, has a quick transfer and follows his throw well. A well-rounded athlete - Argarin has what it take to play at a high level.

07/20/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Joshua continues to impress on the diamond. Defensively, he puts his athleticism on display working fluidly right to left. He has plus lateral range and fires strong throws with carry across the diamond (84 mph). At the plate, Joshua has a solid base with rhythm in his hands. He drives the ball gap-to-gap with pop. He hits the ball where it's pitched, spraying it to all parts of the field. Joshua has an advanced skill-set that will play at a high level.

07/20/2014 - California Select Training & Competition Joshua is a young, athletic SS with good skills. In the INF, he has good quickness to the ball, good body control, and soft hands. He keeps his feet moving through the ball, has a fluid arm action, and delivers the ball with accuracy to his target. If Joshua can soften his hands, pick out better hops, and avoid throwing across his body, defense will improve. At the plate, he has an open stance, an activated load, and good balance. He has good separation, can hit to all fields, and flashes good pop in his bat. Hitting will improve if Joshua can work on his timing, and quicken his hands through the zone.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
