12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Joshua continues to improve his game, noticeably increasing his exit velocity to 82mph. He is a sound defender at first who works around the bag well with soft hands to receive throws. His arm is accurate on throws and he starts the 3-6-3 DP well. He shows a good glove angle to funnel the ball to center and make clean plays. At the dish, he shows power potential from his strong frame and bat speed. He drives the ball to the pull side for extra base ability with the potential to be a middle of the order bat. Working on two ball soft toss will improve barrel accuracy and lead to more hard contact. Joshua is a player we look forward to following further.

08/03/2018 - College PREP - Anchorage, AK Joshua is a strong 2020 prospect who plays the game the right way and has a high baseball IQ. He shows off a strong arm both in the field and on the mound, starting the DP and toughing the upper 70's on the mound. He is smooth at first base with good footwork around the bag and soft hands with quick reactions to pick throws in the dirt. He plays through and has a clean exchange and release to make strong, accurate throws. At the dish, he works with an oppo technique to stay through the zone with the barrel and use all fields. He is aggressive looking for his pitch and can drive the ball with fast bat speed through the zone. Incorporating his lower half will unlock more power potential. On the bump, he features a three pitch mix of an upper 70's fastball with run, a 1-7 CB and a knuckleball with good action. He gets late movement on all of his pitches with a smooth arm stroke and finish over his front side with extension. Joshua is a talented, exciting prospect with lots of potential on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
