09/28/2022 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic (2023) Joshua is a 2023 C who showcased his skills during the Arizona Fall Classic. Behind the plate, he has an easy sit, with quick feet, and good agility. Works with good direction towards second base as he replaces his feet and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Natural arm strength is present as he recorded an arm velocity up to 82mph and a best pop time of 2.28 seconds. At the plate, he hits from a square and athletic stance with comfortable hands. He hits into a firm front side and gets on-plane early. During his round of BP, he hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 85mph. In live game action, he reached base multiple times with 2 singles, and 2 base on balls. With another year of growth and development, we foresee Joshua making huge strides on the baseball field.

09/18/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Conroe (Houston), TX Joshua is a C who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build, with broad shoulders, and strength present. Behind the dish, easy sit who showed quick feet and a firm wrist. Gains ground with good direction towards second base. Creates good blocking angles and tucks his chin. Creates momentum to his target as he made accurate/online throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity up to 82mph and a best pop time of 2.39 seconds. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and closed stance. Uses lower half with good balance through contact and a fast bat. Has a flat barrel path, with late bat whip, and is centered at contact. He hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 85mph. With another year of growth and development, we foresee Joshua having the opportunity to play at the next level.

09/22/2021 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Joshua continues to showcase his baseball tools at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt, tracks the ball well and sticks pitches in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in the 2.33 range. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Offensively, he continues to shine with power potential through an athletic setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage through a line drive approach. He got on base 6 of his 11 plate appearances. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Caldwell is a talented LHH catcher who continues to show well and did so again at the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. With the bat, this lefty shows an open stance with active hands to load. Swing is quick as he jumps on pitches he likes and creates good backspin, driving the ball on a line. He battles when he gets 2 strikes on him and proved to be a tough out. Behind the dish, he sits in well with flexion/athleticism and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. Lateral actions are quick as he creates a good chest angle and keeps the ball in front. Transfer is clean/high from glove to throwing hand as he puts throws on the bag. This 2023 grad has a solid skill-set with upside and will find success in this only his sophomore season.

12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Joshua is a skilled catching prospect who continues to make great strides in his game. He recorded a 74 mph arm velo, his best to date. Behind the plate, he presents ta low/soft target and shows good footwork in his blocking technique. Transfer is clean with accurate throws down to 2B - pop times now at 2.27. At the plate, he stands tall and open showing comfortable hands working back into a loaded position. This lefty shows the ability to drive his lower half to help produce consistent contact (77 mph exit velo). He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the whole field. Joshua continues to trend in the right direction.

10/20/2019 - College PREP - Conroe (Houston), TX Joshua worked out behind the plate and in the OF during his last workout in Houston. He is an athletic athlete who continues to improve skills. Behind the plate, Joshua has quick/fluid feet, a presentable glove, and he sits in athletically, in a square position. He blocks and receives well, he has a quick exchange, and throws with momentum and accuracy to 2nd base. Gaining more ground to throw and added arm strength can help catching get better. In the OF, Joshua has a soft/presentable glove, he fields athletically, and tracks well. He works behind the ball, and throws on a downhill plane with accuracy and strength to his target. Offensively, this LHH has a square/athletic stance, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, a direct barrel, and he makes hard/square contact.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Joshua is a hard working and athletic 2023 catching prospect. Behind the dish, Joshua starts in a quiet primary stance, he shows a low target, and works behind the ball. He has soft hands and controls balls in the strike zone. He has a good secondary stance, but is late to the ball when blocking. He needs to continue to lead with his glove and get his lower body into a strong blocking position. He replaces his feet when he throws and has a long arm swing. Shorten his arm swing and gaining ground will improve his times to 2B. At the plate, Joshua starts in a squared stance keeps the barrel flat to the ball, and makes hard contact to all fields. He needs to load his hands back, not down, and keep his head down at contact. Joshua needs to continue to keep a middle approach and hunt the fastball. Joshua will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

03/17/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Tomball (Houston), TX Joshua raised velocity (67 MPH), and catching grades during his last workout with The Factory. Behind the plate, receiving and blocking improved to 35 and 32 respectively. He has a presentable glove, active feet, and he sits in easy. Joshua has soft hands, a quick/clean exchange, and he throws with accuracy and momentum to 2nd base. At SS, Joshua has good pre-pitch actions, active feet, and a good glove angle to the ball. He has a clean exchange and a short arm action across the diamond. Offensively, Joshua has an open stance, good balance, and he tracks the ball well. He works line drives gap to gap and uses his lower body. Overall skills can continue to improve with work on the following

01/27/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Joshua worked out behind the plate and at SS during his last workout in Houston. Behind the dish, Joshua has athletic actions, he sits in low, and he fields athletically. He has clean hands, blocks well, and has an accurate arm to 2nd base. At SS, Joshua shows active feet, good pre-pitch actions, and a square fielding position. He follows his throws across the diamond, delivering the ball with consistency and momentum. Offensively, Joshua stands in the box with a square set-up, he has a direct barrel, and pop to the pull side. He shows the ability to spray to all fields and he uses his lower body.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Joshua is a hardworking 2023 catching prospect that made several adjustments throughout the week. Behind the dish, Joshua starts in an a balanced primary and has an athletic secondary stance. He made great adjustments blocking. He needs to continue to lead with his glove and focus on controls balls in the dirt with his chest. He presents a low target and works behind the ball. He has a clean exchange and a quick release when throwing. At the plate, Joshua starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He battled through several at bats and showed the ability to pull the ball. He needs to continue attack the inside part of the ball and create backside drive with his lower half. Joshua continues to improve with experience and we hope to see him progress in the summer.

12/15/2018 - Texas Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 12-14) Josh is a coachable C prospect who continued to work hard on his skills during his time at the Texas Skills Weekend. Behind the plate, Josh sits in an athletic primary stance and tracks the ball well, receiving with a strong glove. He gets into his secondary stance on time and gains ground on his throws. He makes a clean exchange and creates good momentum to 2B. He takes good angles when blocking and covers up well. Tucking his chin when blocking can help Josh improve as a C. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets his hands activated on time and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed which leads to solid gap to gap pop. Josh can improve as a hitter by continuing to add strength. With four more years to develop, Josh has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Joshua continues to shine on the diamond. Pop times showed in the 2.95 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work on getting down quicker. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick and he stays inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through the swing. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.

07/14/2018 - Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Josh is a coachable C prospect who continued to work hard on his skills during his time at the D.C. All Star Experience. Behind the plate, Josh shows a high IQ and a good setup. He presents a good target to the pitcher and communicates well with his teammates. He shows a knack for blocking balls in the dirt and recovers the ball quickly. Josh can improve defensively by getting down quicker when blocking balls to his glove side. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a closed stance and takes a short, square stride. He shows a fluid rhythm and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent line drives. Josh can improve as a hitter by working a load into his swing. With five more years to develop, Josh has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Joshua is a hard-working C/SS with a high baseball IQ and shows improvement in every aspect of his game. Home-to-first time has improved from a 5.96 to a 5.45. In the field, Joshua shows a good primary set up and agility that allows him to make plays and block the ball. His receiving skills have improved from previous events and he does a good job of making adjustments when he needs to. He makes clean exchanges into a quick arm action (high 3/4 arm slot) and makes accurate throws to his targets through a quick release. Joshua can improve by working on arm strength through throwing progression and ladder drills for his foot speed. At the plate, Joshua displays a great approach to hitting with an athletic set up and a short stride with a good load. Rhythm is smooth as he keeps his lower half through throughout his swing. He displays fast bat speed with a loose, direct swing path and a line drive approach. Exit velocity has also improved from past events jumping from 58 to 61. Joshua can improve offensively by developing a square stance to make better use of the whole field and staying balanced throughout his swing. Joshua shows great intangibles by asking plenty of questions, being coachable on the field, working hard and hustling everywhere.

04/29/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Katy (Houston), TX Joshua showed hitting and defensive improvements during his last workout with the Factory. Hitting and power grades improved to 32 and 35 respectively. Joshua showed a square/athletic set-up, a proper load, and good balance. He keeps a still head, makes square contact, and he can spray to all fields. At SS, Joshua shows a good overall idea, he makes plays consistently, and fields in a square position. He looks the ball into his glove and throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. Behind the plate, Joshua has presentable hands, he takes good angles to block, and has a short/accurate arm to his target. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Joshua is an athletic built C/SS prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Joshua has a square, athletic stance with a centered balance and firm front side. He has a good load and square, on-time stride. Joshua keeps his head behind the barrel and produces hard, square contact. He is a line drive type hitter who has a solid finish. Behind the plate, Joshua plays the position athletically and moves with effective footwork. He presents a good target staying square to the pitcher. Joshua receives the ball with a firm glove and does a nice job framing. He has a clean exchange and throws from an over the top arm slot. He has good momentum through his release and is developing arm strength. Overall, Joshua has a great attitude and is a coachable prospect giving him the ability to get even better.

01/06/2018 - Southwest Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14) Joshua is a hard working and talented 2023 prospect. He's a student of the game and made several adjustments during the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, Joshua starts in an athletic stance and gets his front foot down on time. He has smooth rhythm in his body and loads his hands back into the launch position. Joshua stays balanced through contact and gets into it with his lower half. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and keeping his head down through contact will allow him to drive the ball gap-gap. Keeping a quiet head will allow him to recognize pitches more consistently. Joshua will continue to improve with experience and repetition. We hope to see his progress in the future.

11/18/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Pearland (Houston), TX Joshua is a 2023 grad 2-way player as a C/SS. Defensively behind the plate, he shows a solid setup/stance and tries to receive pitches with soft hands. He works hard to block/center wild pitches off his chest and fires the ball aggressively down to 2B. At SS, he hustles hard laterally and tries to get centered on GB's. He fields the ball, sets his feet and looks to play through the ball towards his target. With the stick, Joshua is a solid contact hitter. He takes aggressive hacks through the zone and drives the ball on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
