07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Joshua continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an uphill swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 64 mph. Fastball showed a range of 60-64 mph with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/30/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Fort Myers, FL Joshua is a lean (5'5"/110) LHP/OF. Defensively in the OF, he takes active routes as he tracks down fly balls. He fields GB's with soft hands and has a clean exchange to throw. On the mound, this lefty keeps his eyes on target and shows a balanced delivery. He drives his lower 1/2 off the rubber and delivers a 3-pitch mix from a clean arm action. With the stick, Joshua displays a square setup and gets back into a load. He tracks pitches well into the zone and drives the ball with hard contact to his pull side. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Get behind the ball
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Develop CH
2. Work in line towards target
3. Finish strong
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Improve bat speed/hands
3. Level bat path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
