Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

01/03/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Fresno, CA Joshua is a solid/projectable (6'1"/225) RHP/1B in the class of 2024. This RHP shows well from the mound using a three-pitch mix (FB/CB/CH). FB has some life and he locates it well in the zone. CB shows to be his best pitch with tight spin, 11/5 shape with sharp/late break. CH has some life which he can throw for strikes in any count. He gathers well over the rubber and has a controlled direction. A long toss program will help increase arm strength and will make his other pitches that much more effective. At 1B, he starts in an athletic fielding position showing good footwork around the bag. When fielding the GB, he sets himself square and presents his glove out in front. His throws are on-line and accurate from a 3/4 arm slot. Offensively, he sets up in an open stance. He shows an active load while keeping his weight balanced over his center. Quick hands fire the barrel to and through the zone as he connects and sprays the ball with some pop. Conway has a ton of upside and has a very bright future ahead in the game.

03/08/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Fresno, CA Joshua is a big, physical RHP/1B. At 1B, he shows good pre-pitch readiness with good range and ability to pick balls. He has an accurate arm and showed good attack on slow rollers. On the mound, Conway throws strikes with three pitches, and he lands in a square position toward home plate. In addition, he has a clean, quick arm. Offensively, he works from an upright stance and is a gap to gap hitter with good pop. Continued work on the following can help skills improve. 1B: 1. More aggressive on routine balls. 2. Eliminate wasted glove movement Pitching 1. Better lower 1/2 2. Extension 3. Arm strength Offense 1. Stay centered 2. Use lower 1/2 more 3. Be more direct to ball

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
