05/12/2019 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Joshua is an athletic and talented utility prospect. In the OF, Joshua is on time with his prep step, he reads the ball off the bat, and can re direct his routes. He works behind the ball, creates momentum in his lower half when throwing, and has a strong arm. At the plate, Joshua starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and has a quiet head. He attacks the inside part of the ball and has a direct path to the ball. His back side allows him to clear his hip and have quick hands to drive the ball. He hunts the fastball and drives the ball gap to gap. At 3B, Joshua is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works through the ball. He has a clean exchange, a quick release, and throws from multiple arm angles. Joshua will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Joshua is a long, lean 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (8 mph exit velocity) and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and has strength in his swing, displaying gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, feet are active but needs to attack and play through balls more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 3 years to further develop, Joshua has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
