01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Joshua is a strong and athletic 2-way prospect. At the hot corner, Joshua is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and plays through the ball. He creates good angles to the ball and has a clean exchange. At the plate, Joshua starts in a squared stance, he loads his hands back, and is on time with his backside. He has good hands, he makes consistent hard contact, and shows power to the pull side. On the bump, Joshua gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He has a good stride length and rotates over the front side. He command his fastball down in the zone with sink and he throws his breaking ball for strikes. Joshua is highly motivated and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/08/2019 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Joshua is an athletic RHP/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Fastball showed a range of 81-84 mph with life. Breaking ball is an outstanding pitch displaying 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove actions is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with on line carry (85 mph velocity) on his throws but needs to work to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 2 years to further develop, Joshua has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
