Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2BPosition Projection

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Joshua showed well offensively and defensively during his time in Pirate City. He has soft hands, quiet actions, and he picks out the right hops when fielding. Joshua gets in a good ready position, keeps the ball in front of his body, and throws with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Joshua has a square stance, a level swing, and he works the middle of the field. He has good separation, a good eye for the strike zone, and he hits hard to the pull side. Joshua lowered 60 time to 7.38 seconds and home to 1st to 4.89.

10/24/2021 - All-In Membership - Columbia, SC Joshua is a lean 2B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he shows a three-pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74 mph. Fastball shows good sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Joshua has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
