12/20/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Joshua showed on the mound and in the OF for the first time at the event. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic / squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 6. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-79 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard to be the best player he can be, and is a great team player.

12/03/2017 - College PREP - Pensacola, FL Joshua is a RHP prospect who will graduate in 2019. On the mound, Joshua shows a simple delivery with a clean arm action, extending through on his release. He has a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph. Slider sits at 73mph with 9-3 break. Changeup sits at 73mph. Joshua can improve as a pitcher by coming to a balance point over the rubber. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to solid contact. Joshua can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Joshua is a developing pitching prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
