Official Scouting Report

  • OF/1BPosition Projection

08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Joshua is an athletic 2020 prospect with position versatility who is always hustling and has great knowledge of the game. He can really put on a show in BP with big time power to drive the ball for extra bases and homers. His hands are lightening quick through the zone on a level path to match the plane of the pitch and drive it. He hits lasers from gap to gap with a balanced setup to stay back on the ball and explode to it with a strong lower half. He shows fluid footwork in the field and hustles at all times, working aggressively to the ball. His hands are soft to field and he gets in good position to keep everything in front, while showing a high baseball IQ and always knowing where to go with the ball. A long toss program will improve arm strength and make him a complete fielder. Joshua is an exciting prospect who looks to have a bright future in the game.

01/21/2018 - College PREP - Delray Beach, FL Joshua is an athletic OF with very good speed. He was timed at 6.91 in the 60 yard dash. In the OF, Joshua attacks the ball aggressively, he reads the ball off the bat well, and makes plays consistently. He keeps the ball in front of his body and throws with accuracy from a long arm action. Deeper routes, sooner hands, and playing more through the ball will help defense get better. Offensively, Joshua has a square set-up, a fluid stroke, and good balance. He has a repeatable swing and good power. A little looser lower body and letting the ball travel deeper will help solid hitting get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
