01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Joshua is a RHP prospect who showcased his skills at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. On the mound, Joshua gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Joshua shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82mph. Breaking ball sits from 67-74mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 73mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Joshua is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the mound.

12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Joshua is a long, lean RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 4 for 8 with a 3B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 80-82 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late / sharp break and shows potential as being an outstanding pitch. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is outstanding as he has a positive attitude, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. Joshua has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
