07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Joshua continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He utilizes his quick feet well in working to get behind balls and plays through well with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 69 mph. Fastball shows a range of 67-69 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with loose spin and gradual break. He throws a slider that resembles breaking ball. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
