06/06/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Joshua is a tall OF/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Joshua shows active footwork and covers ground well. He makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Joshua field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth to load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a level swing and drives the ball to his pull side. Joshua can barrel up more baseballs by working on his contact points. On the mound, Joshua works through good tempo with a quick arm, finishing with a controlled landing. He operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph. Breaking ball sits from 56-59mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 65-66mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Continuing to work on his balance point can help Joshua improve his pitch command. Overall, Joshua is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared, athletic setup. Hands are loose and works through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 67 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
