02/03/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Mobile, AL Josh is an atheltic OF/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the field, Josh shows efficient footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He fields in an athletic position and makes a clean exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to his target. Josh can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives to his pull side. Working a smoother rhythm into his load can help Josh improve as a hitter. On the mound, Josh shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 66mph. Breaking ball sits from 56-57mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 59-61mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. At the plate. this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short, square stride. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent line drives. Josh can improve as a hitter by working a load into his swing. On the mound, Josh keeps his eyes on target as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and works to be aggressive in the zone. Josh has a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 60mph. Breaking ball ranges from 41-45mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 54-56mph as he throws with fastball arm speed. Josh can improve as a pitcher by finishing with his chest over his front knee. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
