10/19/2019 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching Weekend (Ages 12-14) Josh is a RHP/C prospect who continues to work hard on his skills. On the mound, Josh keeps his glove centered in his balance point and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and accelerates through his release. Josh shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 63mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 53-56mph with 12-6 break. Changeup sits from 56-59mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Driving his lower half more can help Josh improve as a pitcher. With six more years to develop, Josh has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

03/02/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting, Pitching & Catching Combined Weekend (Ages 12-14) Josh is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Training Weekend in Maryland. Behind the plate, Josh presents a good target to the pitcher and tracks the ball into his glove. Sitting in a more athletic primary stance can help Josh improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load and drives the ball to the opposite field. Josh can improve as a hitter by maintaining his center balance. With six more years to develop, Josh has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

08/09/2018 - Babe Ruth National All Star Classic Josh is a coachable C/RHP prospect who continued to work hard on his skills during his time at the Babe Ruth National All Star Classic. Josh can improve defensively by presenting a better target to the pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He barrels up the baseball and drives to all fields. Josh can improve as a hitter by taking a level swing to the ball. On the mound, Josh keeps his eyes on target and works inline towards the plate. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 59mph. Breaking ball sits from 51-53mph as he throws with fastball arm speed. Josh can improve as a pitcher by gathering to a balance point over the rubber. With seven more years to develop, Josh has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Joshua is a coachable, hardworking player who is also a great teammate. Behind the plate, feet are active working in line through a clean transfer/exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting an earlier/lower target. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to improve flexibility and work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Fastball shows a range of 48-52 mph with arm side run. Control is a plus as he throws strikes and locates to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Pittsburgh, PA Joshua worked out behind the plate and on the mound during his last workout. He works hard to block wild pitches and makes accurate throws down to 2B. In the OF, he gets into a good ready position as he looks to track down hard-hit fly balls. He tries to work behind the ball, gathers well and sets his feet to throw. With the stick, Joshua displays an athletic setup with smooth rhythm to load. His lower 1/2 stays firm as he swings on a direct path through the zone and consistently drives pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
