01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Joshua was an exceptionally hard working ball player that earned himself the G-Award while participating at the Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City. Defensively, he was always moving and looking to be a part of the winning solution - moving his body into throwing lanes to back up plays all over the field. He had advanced feel for where plays may go, and was aggressive with his feet. He moved well to the baseball, and worked to get behind fly balls to work his momentum through to throw. During defensive drills he worked on catching the ball a little higher and allowing his arm to get extended out over the front side for more carry. Offensively, he had a good setup with balance and generated decent bat whip to hit. He worked hard in the cages on making adjustments to boost bat speed through hand/hip coordination. In all - Joshua was a pleasure for teammates and coaches alike and has a bright future has he focuses his passion to his development.

11/01/2015 - College PREP - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Joshua is a lean OF that will graduate in 2019. In the OF, he utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat but needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, he shows a squared setup and he tracks the ball well. Hands are loose, and aggressive, working through a level swing path and he makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side through a line drive approach. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will increase as he utilizes his lower half more aggressively. With 4 years to further develop, Joshua has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
