07/10/2023 - National Showcase - Greenville, SC Joshua continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential are excellent through a squared setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He utilizes his quick/aggressive feet as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. He displays smooth / clean actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry on his throws.

09/25/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Greenville, SC Joshua continues show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.10 runner. In the OF, defensive abilities are now well above average as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At 3B, feet are active but needs to attack ball more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential is well above average through a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

09/12/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Greenville, SC Joshua continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through with his body. He moves well laterally with range improving as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Joshua continues to show the makings of a special type player and promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 59 mph. Fastball showed a range of 55-59 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/08/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Greenville, SC Joshua is a tall, thin, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Joshua has fluid footwork, agile movements, and he fields in a low/square position. He moves well laterally, makes plays consistently, and throws with accuracy from a short arm action across the diamond. On the mound, Joshua has a good pitchers frame, solid balance, and a clean arm circle. He keeps his eyes on target, works well to his balance point, and he competes in the zone. At the plate, Joshua has a tall/open stance, he loads well, and his hands are quick. He has a direct barrel, works the ball gap to gap, and he uses his lower body. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
