01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament
Thomas continues to progress and showed well at the Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. On the mound, this RHP pounds the zone and challenges hitters to swing the bat. He works tall and gets strong glove-side lead, driving downhill toward the plate. FB has slight tail as he works it in and out. He keeps it down in the zone, resulting in GB outs - 76-78 mph. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape with sweeping action. Changeup has some sink as he throws it with FB arm speed. At 1B, he hustles around the GB into a square fielding position. As a hitter, this righty has rhythm to load and takes a hack at pitches he likes. He squares the ball up and drives it back up the middle of the field. Joshua will toe the rubber and compete in this only his freshman year.
12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2
Joshua Thomas is a 6'1/140 lbs eighth grader that showed exceptional ability on the mound in his most recent Baseball Factory outing. On the rubber, he threw a FB with run from 70-76, and showed an 11/5 CB from 62-63. He had a loose arm that got extended out in front and he showed in delivery rhythm to repeat and work the zone. He was balanced from start to finish and worked downhill, with advanced feel. At 1B, he took good angles to the baseball and picked the ball well. He presented a big target for other infielders and threw on-line to his targets. Offensively, he was balanced in his setup and delivered the barrel on a direct path. He showed good core rotation to boost bat whip through the zone and still got extended out over the front side. In all - Joshua showed all positive intangibles and therefore projects very well with already above average ability.

Changeup has run as he throws it with FB arm speed helping to create deception. He fills up the zone and throws all 3-pitches for strikes. At 1B, Joshua moves well into a square fielding position. He is sure handed with the ability to pick it. He has good bag awareness and can adjust right and left efficiently to inaccurate throws. Withe the bat, this RHH has a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He tracks the pitch into the zone and takes an aggressive hack. He connects and drives the ball with pop.
