02/24/2024 - National Showcase - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Jovanni continues to impress and show as a top prospect with his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, feet are quick as he shows good direction, working in line to get rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in 1.97 range as he will control the running game with his feet / arm. He tracks the ball well and presents a firm mitt in sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process and he is a wall behind the plate. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next. At SS, he starts in an athletic ready position and fields in a square position. Glove action is sure and present well out front. He shows fluid / smooth actions, playing through the ball and gets rid of the baseball quickly. Range is a plus as he utilizes his foot quickness (6.82 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with online carry to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying excellent hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength (92 mph exit velocity) in his swing and makes hard contact with power with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side.

11/11/2023 - National Showcase - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Jovanni is a 2026 C/SS prospect with an athletic frame. At short, he does a nice job pre-pitch of getting in a ready position and shows off quick, fluid footwork. He has agile range to both the glove side and backhand and does a great job of getting in an athletic fielding position. He presents soft hands out in front and is very smooth at the position, doing a good job of working to his target. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws with a loose arm action. Behind the plate, he has good footwork and gets in an athletic fielding position. He gives a good target to his pitcher and gets his thumb under the baseball when receiving. He does a nice job of getting on top of the ball and he impresses with his blocking, doing a great job of keeping his chin down. He makes consistent throws with a quick release. At the plate, he starts in an athletic stance and has an on-time stride with a good load. He is in rhythm with his swing and does well to keep his balance centered. His lower half leads to the baseball and he shows off fast bat speed with a short swing path to the baseball. He works the ball to the gaps and squares the ball up consistently. He is a very projectable hitter and he recorded a max exit velo of 86 MPH. Jovanni is an exciting prospect and we are looking forward to seeing more of him as he continues to develop!

05/28/2023 - National Showcase - York, PA Jovanni continues to show as a top prospect with baseball abilities Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in the 2.03 range with accuracy / carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth, athletic actions. Feet are quick and aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved, now showing as well above average tools through a squared setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

02/25/2023 - National Showcase - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Jovanni is a C/SS prospect who will graduate in 2026. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. At C, he showed active feet with a low/athletic sit. Quick/athletic actions as he gains ground to second base. Works thumb under baseball keeping balls in the strike zone. A clean transfer, with a quick arm stroke, and a high 3/4 release point. Made accurate and on-line throws with an arm velocity up to 80mph and a best pop time of 2.03 seconds. In the infield, he showed good lateral range and closes distance on batted balls. Fields from an athletic/low fieldling position with ability to pick out hops. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and square stance. A flat barrel path, with intent in swing, and hits into a firm frontside. Hit balls hard to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 66mph during BP. Another 3 years of growth and development should provide Jovanni with opportunities to make huge strides on the baseball field.

01/14/2023 - National Showcase - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Jovanni continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.10 with accuracy / carry (85 mph velocity) on his throws. At SS, defensive abilities are now well above average as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents more out front. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

10/12/2022 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic (2026) Jovanni is a coachable C/SS prospect who showcased his skills during the Fall Classic. Behind the dish, Jovanni sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through the 2B bag. He is efficient moving to block and centers dirt balls in the middle of his body. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a soft stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated in his load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He works through a smooth swing with plus bat speed, producing strong line drives. Overall, Jovanni is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Jovanni continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.57 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel.

03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Jovanni is a coachable C/2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Spring Pro Training Experience. Behind the dish, Jovanni sits in an athletic stance and receives with a quiet glove. He throws with a short arm and keeps his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Covering up his holes when moving to block can help Jovanni keep more dirt balls in front of him. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets into a simple load and rotates his core through well, driving the ball from gap to gap. Jovanni can create more consistent contact by working through a more level swing path. With five more years to develop, Jovanni has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

02/29/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Pitching/Catching Training - Columbia, MD (Ages 12-14) Jovanni is a hard worker who has great energy and is very coachable. He sits in well with relaxed/athletic actions and has good flexion. He sticks pitches in the zone, framing well. Continuing to receive and keep his thumb up will help his receiving technique. When throwing, he replaces his feet well and stays directional. Transfer is clean as his arm action is loose. Continuing to quicken his exchange and increase his arm strength will help pop times to drop. Jovanni is still young and has a ton of time to progress.

02/08/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Jovanni is an athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays 2nd base. Behind the plate, Jovanni has active feet, a good base, and his hands are firm. He plays with good energy, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a loose arm to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 3.6 seconds to 2nd base. At 2B, Jovanni makes plays, he covers ground well, and throws with good direction to 1st base. Offensively, Jovanni has a closed stance, a still head, and he makes hard/solid contact. He gets the bat through well and can hit to the opposite field. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
