06/05/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South JP continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. Pop times showed in the 1.93 range with on line carry (90 mph velocity) and accuracy to his throws. Receiving / blocking skills are tremendous as he shows off his athletic abilities. At the plate, he continues to shine. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (87 mph exit velocity) as he connects through a line drive path. A talented prospect - he will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament JP is a talented and hard working 2019 Catching prospect. Behind the dish, JP has an athletic primary and secondary stance. He presents a big target and works behind the ball. He has a clean exchange and creates momentum in his lower half when he throws. Continuing to lead with his glove and controlling the balls in the dirt with his chest will allow him to control the running the game. At the plate, JP loads his hands back into the drive position and hits off a firm front side. He attacks the ball with his lower half and shows pull side pop. JP will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/14/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures South JP has the sought-after skill set to allow him to stay at the catching position at higher levels. He combines an athletic, durable frame with arm strength and sure/strong hands to form the foundation of an excellent catch and throw prospect. His release behind the plate is quick and efficient with outstanding feet and carry to his throws that got down to 2B as low as 1.84. JP is also excellent on balls in the dirt making him the type of guy that pitchers want to throw to. At the plate JP has a compact RH stroke with natural rhythm and a clean path. He is comfortable using the big part of the field and looks to be a singles/doubles bat that makes a lot contact. Overall, it is difficult to find an athlete that can play the premium position of catcher - that is what JP is.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
