05/27/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Salt Lake City, UT JP continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he improved his hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally to both backhand and glove side. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/20/2015 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 JP is a hardworking, very coachable player that makes adjustments to be the best player he can be with a promising future on the diamond. At SS, is a smooth / fluid fielder with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process as he plays through balls well, presenting glove out front. He will improve range as he improves foot quickness. Offensively, he works on time and uses his lower half well through a short / direct swing path. Hands work inside the ball as he utilizes all fields through a line drive type swing path. Power numbers will increase as he builds overall body strength and improves bat speed. With 5 years to further develop, JP has potential and will be a player to follow.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) JP is an athletic infielder who continues to shine. He is a very coachable player who hustles all over the field. At SS, he shows quick footwork and works fluidly around the GB from right to left. He works from the ground-up, makes the plays with soft hands and has a quick exchange to throw. Continuing to develop his foot speed will help to increase lateral range. Offensively, this righty has fluid actions to load and waits for his pitch. Swing is level to and through the zone as he engages his lower 1/2, driving the ball with some pop. JP is a talented young player who has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

08/16/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Lebanon (Nashville), TN JP is an athletic MIF who graduates in 2020. Defensively, he shows active footwork and moves well around the GB. He presents his glove, fields the ball out in front and makes the plays with sure hands. He fields the backhand play smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this RHH has a balanced setup with rhythm in his hands. Swing is level as he connects and drives it to all fields. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Avoid glove-pat
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Play through ball
Offense
1. Rhythm/Timing
2. More lower 1/2 drive
3. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
