02/27/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX JP is an OF/LHP who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and plenty of room to develop. In the OF, showed ability to flip his hips and run down balls in all directions with fluid feet. Good 1st reads enable to work behind/through ground balls and fly balls. Takes aggressive routes to groundballs and fields with soft hands out front. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, with a long arm stroke, and an arm velocity up to 77mph into infield. Throws were on-line with a quick release. At the plate, he starts with an upright and even stance. A square glide step to start swing, with a good bat angle, and ability to keep his hands inside the ball. A short/direct swing path enables him to hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 74mph. On the mound, he has a simple and repeatable delivery. He separates his hands on-time and showed a clean arm. He throws a FB that sits 69-73mph with good command, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup with tailing action that he throws with FB arm speed. As he continues to develop and mature, we see this 2-way player making huge strides on the baseball field.

07/19/2021 - All-In Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX JP is a class of 2023 OF/1B prospect. In the outfield, he shows quick feet and athletic actions. Shows off good foot speed and ran his 60-yard dash in 6.97 seconds. Does a good job of getting behind the baseball and working through it. Has a clean arm action. High points the baseball. At the plate, he showed good swing mechanics. Does a good job using his top hand to set his barrel direction in his swing. Was able to show a good ability to get his lower ½ through the baseball as well as getting extension. Creates hard contact consistently. In the infield, he shows good footwork. Fields from beneath the baseball. Does a good job receiving throws. Has good bag awareness on double plays. Shows a short arm action and accurate throws. JP is a talented prospect that we hope to see again soon as he continues to develop.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
