Official Scouting Report

  • 4Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

04/25/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - York, PA JT is a 2022 SS/RHP. Tall frame athletic build with square shoulders, projectable frame with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.15 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop shows athleticism as he creates good fielding angles. Show some softness in his hands and fields the ball out front with good glove angle. Ability to throw from multiple arm slots with solid arm strength on throws at 89mph. Displayed nice footwork on DP feeds and pivots. Right-handed pitcher with athletic actions and ability to repeat his delivery. Creates good balance and direction as he loads onto his backside. Eyes on target with good extension out front. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with good command of the strike zone. FB topped out at 81mph that he tries to keep at the bottom of the zone. Mixed in a 11/5 shaped curveball with good depth and a developing changeup. Right-handed hitter begins with an upright stance and open stance. Athletic setup as he showed ability to make hard contact to all fields. Recorded a bat exit velocity of 85mph during his round of BP. With continued growth and development, we can see JT having opportunities to play at the next level.

03/08/2020 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD JT is a lean, athletic SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.35. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork in working to square ground balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with well above average power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with big early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, JT has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
