Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/CPosition Projection

02/04/2018 - College PREP - Houston, TX JT is a towering, lean two-way player with lots of projection in his frame. He is advanced on the mound and flashes an out pitch with a wipeout slider that has good plane. His arm is quick and clean as he works to the bottom of the zone with his sinking fastball at 80mph. His command is solid to both sides of the plate with his fastball and breaking pitches. At the plate, he delivers the barrel consistently with compact mechanics and a direct path to the ball. His strength and quick hands result in lots of hard contact from gap-to-gap. Behind the plate, he sets up in an easy, athletic stance and uses his big frame to keep balls in front. He receives with a firm wrist and has a clean exchange to throw. Working on his footwork to throw will help lower pop times. JT is an intriguing prospect with lots of potential on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
