01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Juan is an athletic 2-way prospect with a high baseball IQ that plays the game hard. At 2B, Juan is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and creates good angles to the ball. He has a quick first step and plays through the ball. At the plate, Juan starts in an open stance and has fluid rhythm in his load. He keeps the barrel on plane, his hips go to the ball, and he makes hard contact to the ball pull side. On the bump, Juan finds a balance point, he separates on time, and has a clean arm action. He rides his back leg down hill and has life on his fastball. Juan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/10/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Midland, TX Juan showed well at both positions during his last workout with The Factory. He is a solid/athletic player with a high ceiling. At 3B, Juan has quick/fluid feet, soft hands, and a good glove angle to the baseball. He fields athletically, his exchange is quick and clean, and he throws with momentum and accuracy across the diamond. Behind the plate, Juan sits in athletically, he has fluid footwork, and receives softly. He gets down quickly to block and has a strong arm with pop times as low as 2.2 seconds to 2nd base. Offensively, Juan has a tall/open stance, he loads well, and swings aggressively. He has quick hands, good balance, and fast bat speed. Solid overall skills can get even better with work on the following.

Infield
1. Body control
2. Arm angle
Catching
1. Throwing
2. Avoid stabbing
3. Blocking
Offense
1. Shorten swing
2. Load/stride

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Juan is a strong and talented 2024 2-way prospect that worked hard all week. At the hot corner, Juan starts in an athletic position, presents a low/early glove, and has good hands. He has a good exchange and makes strong throws across the diamond. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step and play through his backhand. At the plate, Juan starts in an open stance, he loads his hands back, and creates backside drive with his lower half. He has good bat speed and shows the ability to pull the ball. Getting his front foot down on time and keeping a quiet head will allow him have better pitch recognition. On the bump, Juan has good presence and competes on every pitch. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm action. Juan made several adjustments throughout the week and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
