He moves well laterally with range improving as he continues to increase foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 67-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

05/31/2020 - All-In Membership - Frisco (DFW), TX Juan is a RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Juan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline toward the plate and keeps his pitches around the zone. Juan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph. Breaking ball sits from 62-65mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 66-67mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Juan improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a direct swing and produces solid contact. Juan can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. Overall, Juan is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/15/2018 - Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Juan is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect that made several adjustments throughout the training weekend. At the hot corner, Juan is on time with his prep step and creates angles to the ball. He presents a low/early glove, works from the ground up, and has a clean exchange. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Juan starts in a squared stance and sprays the ball to all fields. He needs to create rhythm in his hands and creating separation in his load. He also needs to continue to get his front foot down on time, rotate his back hip into the ball, and stay balanced through contact. On the bump, Juan gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm action. He works down hill and throws strikes. Developing an off-speed pitch, such as a changeup, will allow him to work off the fastball and elevate his game on the mound. Juan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

On the hill, this righty gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch mix. He separates on time and delivers a FB, SL, and CH from a straight over the top arm slot. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
