07/17/2022 - Baseball Factory Los Angeles All Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Juan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the All-Star Classic. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/21/2022 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (HS) Juan continues to shine with his baseball abilities. He did show at 1B for the first time at the event. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point and has smooth delivery. Fastball showed a range of 69-74 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 2 for 2 with a 2B. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness.

11/21/2021 - All-In Membership - San Bernardino, CA Juan is a solid RHP who will graduate in 2023. On the mound, Juan has good balance, a loose arm circle, and he separates his hands on time. He has a quiet delivery, good direction toward home plate, and he finishes in a complete position. Juan pounds the zone with strikes and his off-speed show well. More front arm extension and a better finish can help mound effectiveness improve. Juan did not take batting practice at the workout.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
