12/27/2013 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Medina is a hard working player who shows a great love for the game and is determined to be the best player he can be. He only showed at 2B at the event and has improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.11. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Hands are soft / clean as he makes the routine plays. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to improve his foot work to through and present hands more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a simple setup, solid approach and tracks the ball well. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path as he makes consistent contact. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more.

06/25/2013 - College PREP - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Judah is a tall, lanky 2B that will graduate in 2015. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.29 60 time. Feet are active as he attacks ground balls and squares up well. He plays hard and is not afraid to get dirty. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Medina shows a balance approach with rhythm. Hands work through a level swing path and makes consistent contact through a level swing path, mainly to the pull side. He needs to work to on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and improve hitting grade. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more through a level swing. With 2 years to further develop, Judah has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
