Official Scouting Report

07/07/2012 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Imkamp showed similar abilities as we had previously seen at National Spring Training in Pirate City. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, but needs to continue to increase through a speed / agility program. He makes the routine plays and shows clean / quick hands but needs to attack ground balls more and play through while presenting hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate and gets rid of the ball quickly but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Jules shows a simple, balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick flashing bat speed to and through the ball at contact. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed some arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/4 shape but needs to develop better off speed stuff and increase velocity to raise stock on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. As he matures and gets faster/stronger, we expect the rest of his game to improve as well.

01/13/2012 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Jules is a two-position player who projects best as an infielder at present. He showed improvements across the board while at Pirate City.Defensively, he shows good prep work and active feet at shortstop. Exchange is solid and he makes plays out in front. Arm strength needs to improve for him to stay on the left side of the diamond at the next level. Playing through the ball more consistently will help in this area. With the bat, he remains balanced with a solid load, he tracks pitches, and uses the whole field. He needs to level out his swing path and shorten up his stroke. On the mound, many pieces of his delivery were short. He is around the zone and throws strikes. Athleticism and arm strength keep him in the infield for the most part. Jules is a hard worker and we expect him to continue to improve as he matures.

12/18/2011 - College PREP - Hightstown, NJ Jules is a young SS/RHP that will graduate in 2015. Feet are active and display clean hands as he makes the routine plays. He needs to work on attacking balls more, while playing through and improve foot speed to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength to improve carry. At the plate, Imkamp shows a square, balanced approach with hands working inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 64-66 mph with slight arm side run. Changeup is best off speed pitch showing a feel for with sink and arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break and needs to find a consistent release point for better control. He throws strikes with all his pitches. With 4 years to further develop, Jules has abilities with time and room to improve.

11/19/2011 - Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Commuter) Jules has an athletic set up, and a good stride and load, I would just like to see him gain some more ground in the stride, and also work on better rhythm with his hands during the load. Jules is very strong at contact, but he needs to focus on keeping his chest back during contact, he tends to reach for the baseball causing him to be upright during the swing, this can also be fixed by letting the ball travel into the hitting zone and not trying to hit it before it reaches his hitting zone. Jules has a very good swing over all, he has great back side and front side connection, which cause his lower body and upper body to work together; this leads to great use of the lower half during the swing and finishing the back side heel over toe.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
