12/27/2011 - Vero Beach Christmas Camp and Tournament Julian is a 2016 graduate who pitches and plays short stop. In the field Julian has sure hands. His footwork is fluid and active and he stays under control with his approach. He stays athletic with his fielding position and fields out in front. Around the bag he makes quick feeds and pivots. During the games he made consistent routine plays and showed his aggressive approach in the field. At the plate Julian has an athletic and balanced set up. He keeps his hands back with his load and stays squared with his stride. He has good balance during entire swing and uses his lower half well. His bat speed is fast and showed his ability to have potential power by hitting balls in the gap during the games and batting practice. He is a pull hitter and would like to see him use more of the field to make him a more sound hitter. On the mound Julian throws a strong fastball with good run. He threw strikes all week and keeps the ball down. His secondary pitch is a curve ball that has late movement and a good tight spin. He has a loose arm action and stays athletic throughout his delivery. His mound presence was very good as he was intimidating for several of the hitters during the games. Julian has a big body and lots of raw talent. With a better idea in the field, his athleticism and approach will make him fun to watch in the future. Lots of power at the plate will come with more consistency and on the mound his fastball will only get better with more pitches. Julian will continue to compete at a high level and he has a great attitude and love for the game.
