11/19/2011 - Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Commuter) Julian has a nice strong athletic stance, but he needs to work on his stride. The swing starts with the stride and load, and Julian could improve a lot with a better stride and load. He tends to hook his top hand over in his grip, causing him to hook around the ball at contact resulting in a lot of groundballs to the left side of the infield. Also his bat tends to be tall in the stride, lowering the barrel of the bat will result in a better bat plain resulting in better ball flights off the barrel. Julian starts his swing to early, he starts the barrel before his front foot is down, causing him to become off balance and losing power, this can be fixed simply by getting some rhythm in the stride and load. Julian has very good hip rotation, they just start rotating to late; fire the hips before the upper body, let the hips lead the swing. Julian has the tendency to pull the bat through the zone instead of rotating the body and delivering the barrel with the wrists instead of the arms. He does do a good job of letting the ball travel which should make the rotation adjustment easy for him.
