06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Julian is a coachable OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series. In the field, Julian shows quick footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws. Julian can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and comes through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact to all fields. With five more years to develop, Julian has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

02/10/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14) Julian is a coachable and hard working prospect that made several adjustments during the hitting accelerated training weekend. At the plate, Julian loads his hands back into the drive position and stays balanced through contact. He uses his backside and gets extension through contact. Continuing to keep his chest behind his front knee at contact and having a shorter stride will allow him to back the ball up and drive the ball to all fields. Julian will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/10/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Nyack (NYC), NY Julian is a young, L/L OF who graduates in 2023. In the OF, he has active footwork and is aggressive to track down balls hit to his right and left. He secures the ball, gathers well and makes accurate throws to his target. With the bat, this lefty displays an athletic/square stance with centered balance. He has rhythm to load, swings on a level path and squares the ball up. Continuing to work on the following will aid in his overall development on the diamond.

Defense
1. Foot speed
2. Play through the ball
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Shorter/more direct path
2. Contact points
3. More lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
