Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

03/17/2019 - College PREP - Tomball (Houston), TX Julian is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Julian shows active footwork and is agile covering ground. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. Staying low when moving to throw can help Julian improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He drives his lower half through and makes solid contact. Julian can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Julian gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Julian shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 61-63mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 67-68mph with arm side run and sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Julian can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With two more years to develop, Julian has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
