Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

05/25/2013 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Skyler has progressed into a solid prospect. He excels offensively and can drive At the plate, this right-handed hitter displays good rhythm and gets into a loaded position. He shows patience, letting the ball travel into the zone and hitting it where it's pitched. He shows pop to his pull side and makes consistent/hard contact. Defensively in the OF, he is aggressive and takes good angles to get himself into position. He shows good speed (6.84 60 yard dash) and can track down balls hit into the gaps. On the bump, he shows good tempo and works downhill and in-line toward the plate. He finishes well, out over his front side and lands in an athletic fielding position. Skyler has put himself into position for a successful senior year.

07/27/2012 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 5 Parker continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.09. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF. He needs to work to get behind more and play through to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength / carry through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power grades have improved through a solid setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the ball jumping off his bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-78 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/4 shape with depth. He shows his arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. He throws strikes with all his pitches.

05/26/2012 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Skyler is a RHP/OF who will graduate in 2014. On the mound, his delivery is repeatable and works at a good pace. His separation is on time keeping his shoulders level, direction in line, and completes his delivery. His curveball shows good rotation and can benefit by getting more extension to have better bite. Pitching grades will improve with more use from his lower half and more glove side lead. Skyler can also benefit by building arm strength through a long toss program. Defensively, his feet are active with accurate throws across the diamond. He shows the ability to get good jobs and surround balls to his glove side. Overall fielding ability will improve as Skyler learns proper routes/angles on balls at him and to his backhand side. Offensively, Skyler shows a square setup with a short stride. There are some mechanical flaws that are restricting him to reach his full potential. If he can work on reaching a stronger load position with his hands back (flexion in lead arm) and body centered hitting grades will show improvement.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
