01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) This athletic RHH MIF continues to shine and did so again at the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. Defensively, he shows active prep working lightly on the balls of his feet right to left. Hands are out front as he fields the ball softly and funnels to a quick/clean transfer. Are strength is outstanding (88 mph) as he's able to make the tough backhand play and fire strongly across the diamond with ease. As a hitter, Justin stands in with a solid base and active hands to load. Swing is quick as he whips the barrel to and through the zone, creating good extension on his finish. He proved to be a tough out going 4 for 5 with 3 singles, a double and a walk. Abercrombie possesses the skill-set that will translate well into a high level of play.

12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Justin is an athletic 2-way (INF/RHP) prospect in the 2021 class. In the infield, he shows great arm strength (86 mph velo) from across the diamond, along with a quick and clean exchange. He creates momentum and releases the ball quickly and accurately from multiple arm slots, displaying his athleticism. At the plate he stands square, relaxed, and comfortable. Justin’s simple load and short stride allows him to create consistent contact to produce line drives. From the mound, he shows a two-pitch mix (FB/CB) from an overhead arm slot, delivering the ball on downhill plane. He continues to display his athleticism with a clean, loose arm action with plus extension on his follow through. Overall, Justin is a well-rounded player in all facets of the game, who plays at a high level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
