07/16/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Dallas, TX Justin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a tremendous runner at 6.78. At SS, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and squares up well with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Justin is an athletic and talented 2020 SS prospect and worked hard all week. At SS, Justin is on time with his prep step, he anticipates the ball off the bat, and was able to make several nice plays in the hole. He presents a low/early glove, has a clean exchange, and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Justin starts in relaxed stance, creates rhythm in his load, and gets his front foot down on time. He needs to continue to create backside drive with his lower half, attack the inside part of the ball, and be aggressive on the fastball. Justin will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/21/2018 - College PREP - Conroe (Houston), TX Justin is an athletic and talented 2020 SS prospect. At SS, Justin is on time with prep step, presents a low/early glove, and creates angles to the ball. He has good feeds on double plays, quick hands, and a clean exchange. In the box, Justin starts in an open stance, gets his front foot down on time, and creates backside rotation with his lower half. He gets his barrel to the ball consistently and drives the ball to all fields. Justin will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
