01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Justin is a solid (6'1"/275) 2-way player (RHP/3B) who showed very well on the diamond during his time in Arizona. On the mound, this big righty works to a tall balance point, has smooth separation and drives off of the rubber downhill toward the plate. He keeps the ball down in the zone - resulting in a lot of GB outs. FB continues to sit in the mid 80's as he can spot up well. Curveball shows 11/5 shape with good action - complimenting his FB well. He works ahead in the count often, putting hitters in defensive situations. At 3B, Justin presents his hands and fields the GB out in front. He gathers smoothly and fires strong throw across the diamond. As a hitter - Justin stands in well with rhythm in his hands. He takes a hack with quick hands, as the ball jumps off of his barrel (exit velocity = 92 mph). Borchard possesses the tools that will play at a high level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
